Spearstone Solutions converts industrial waste into valuable products for the paper, plastics and fertilizer markets. Our environmentally friendly technology also recovers rare earth elements and reduces ecological and health risks.

The Environmental Challenge

Billions of tons of industrial waste are building up in the United States, threatening people’s health and the health of our communities. However, this very same waste can become an economic boon by transforming it into valuable, high-demand products for multi-billion-dollar industries like paper, plastics, steel, electronics and agriculture. Spearstone Solutions makes this transformation possible.

Phosphogypsum
Remediation
Phosphogypsum

Phosphogypsum is a radioactive byproduct of phosphoric acid production. There are about 1B tons in Florida alone with 30M produced every year. Today, ~85% of phosphogypsum is disposed without treatment and maintained in large stacks.

FGD Gypsum
FGD Gypsum

Over 25 million tons of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) gypsum, a by-product of coal-based electricity product are generated each year in the US. Over 70% of FGD gypsum is reused, with the remaining stored in landfills.

Coal Ash
Remediation
Coal Ash
Coal Ash

100M tons is produced annually in the process of burning coal for energy needs in the US. About 69% of coal ash produced is recycled. The unused portion is stored in ash ponds, posing the risk of leaching into groundwater, if improperly managed.

Rare Earth
Elements
Rare Earth Elements (REEs)

Driven by geopolitical forces and technological advances, demand for U.S.-based rare earth elements (REEs) will increase. China produces or processes over 95% of REEs. The U.S. government has prioritized domestic REE development to reduce international reliance.

Our Solutions

We’re reimagining waste by converting synthetic gypsum to calcium carbonate (used in paper and plastics), ammonium sulfate (for fertilizer) and quicklime (for the purification of metallurgy). These solutions reduce the storage of these materials and minimize health and ecological risks. We are also extracting rare earth elements from phosphogypsum, coal ash and FGD gypsum. Through our process, we also manage to capture CO2 from plant exhaust for use.

Our patented technology transforms synthetic gypsum into valuable products, reducing waste while enabling radioactivity reduction.

We produce environmentally friendly commodities by transforming waste into high-value resources for multiple industries.

Our process enables rare earth element extraction helping to reduce dependence on foreign supply and related risks.

Our process eliminates landfill storage of synthetic gypsum waste, reducing environmental impact and long-term liabilities.
